Carcharocles AURICULATIS

We have on display teeth from an extinct Otodontid shark - Carcharocles auriculatus, an ancestor to the Megalodon. The early Carcharocles Auriculatus has large serrations and profound serrated side cusps. This tooth represents the evolution from Otodus obliquus to the Auriculatus. These teeth are very rare, early Eocene in age (approx. 55 mya) and are found in Kazakhstan. These teeth are no longer coming out of this location and are extremely rare.

This shark evolved from the Otodus Obliquus into the Auriculatis from which evolved into the Angustidon. From Angustidon it evolved in to the Megalodon.

Eocene - Approx 38-42 Million Years Old . Approx 30-35 ft shark
